Grammy® Award-winner John Scofield's influence on jazz guitar has become a mainstay since the mid-70s when he burst on the scene playing with greats like Charles Mingus, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock and Billy Cobham. With his masterful improvisation abilities and diverse sound, Scofield has never lost the skill to continuously push the boundaries of the guitar as he has honed and explored a variety of musical territory with jazz as its core. He has recorded over 30 albums as a leader and tours over 200 days a year. Following a sold out performance at the 2016 Biamp PDX Jazz Festival with Joe Lovano, Scofield returns to Portland in support of his newest album on Impulse! Records, Country for Old Men, wherein the guitarist focuses on jazz interpretations of classic American country and western tunes with astounding results. Joining him onstage for this special occasion will be Steve Swallow (bass), Larry Goldings (piano) and Bill Stewart (drums).
